Hi, I want to use inkscape to edit pdf-files created in inkscape. When I import the file, something funny happens to the text. The letter combination "ti" changes to the symbol (a symbol with a white question mark on a black rectangle).
E.g. radiative becomes radiave. So far, this has happened in every image I have tried and only at the letter combination "ti". Can anyone help me?
Regards
Mattias

Hi.
That is the missing character symbol.
Would suggest converting the texts to paths in the save as pdf dialog.

Re: The letter combination "it" in pdf-files
Thank you for the answer Lazur URH.
I only have the pdf-files so I can't re-save the files. I just cannot understand why the problem only occurs with the combination "ti"!!! Isn't there any way that I can import the pdf-files in inkscape without loosing the letters?

Re: The letter combination "it" in pdf-files
Don't know why the ligatures are not supported.
But when the text is full of manual kerning and broken into random parts some cases it's not that bad...
Inkscape relies on poppler (?) to open pdf-s, which is developed by separate people.
Though you can look at inkscape's bug tracker for mentions of the problem.

Re: The letter combination "it" in pdf-files
Poppler was not the default setting but it seems to work if I choose "Import via Poppler" (Swedish version).
I guess that was the solution to my problem. Thank you for helping me again Lazur URH!

Yes, importing via poppler often solves text-related issues.
