I am kind of new to Inkscape, and I wonder if there is a way to preview how your document(drawing) will look like on actual paper before printing it. I read the accompanying user manual, and "Print Preview" was not mentioned anywhere.

Depending on the paper type that a user choose, it is really essential to know the look of the actual printout before printing. By looking at the "Print Preview", I think an informed user can adjust the positions of objects on the canvas to fit what he really wants on paper.

If there was no “Print Preview” function available in Inkscape, is there a chance to add that feature to the Inkscape in the future? I know that I could save the document and use "Print Preview" in other software to check my result, but it is not very convinient and user-friendly. Adding "Print Preview" will definitely improve the functionality of feature-rich software like Inkscape. Thank you very much.

There is no print preview feature that I know of.

I can think of one possible workaround. Reduce the zoom level, so that you an see the whole image in the Inkscape window. I know it's not the same, because in some cases, you would need to see the full size. But meanwhile.

I think it sounds like a great idea for a new feature request! And because Inkscape is open source, you can submit that request yourself, at Launchpad, Inkscape's bug tracker and the proper place to request new features (even though it's not really a bug). But be sure and search first, because it may have already been requested. If so, add your own comment. This will add weight to the request, and perhaps have it implemented sooner. There used to be a "This affects me too!" button, but I haven't seen it lately.

This is also a feature that I would love to see added to the program.
