[solved] Landscape orientation default?

Postby inkhead » Sun Oct 12, 2008 3:59 pm

This seems like a simple thing but is there a way to make it so that landscape orientation is default instead of portrait? I thought it would save my settings but everytime I open a new document it's back to portrait mode and I almost always like working in landscape mode. Thanks

Open the default template (default.svg), make the changes you want, then save it.

The location of default.svg varies. On Windows it should be in the share\templates subdirectory of your Inkscape directory. On Linux it will probably be in /usr/local/share/inkscape/templates or /usr/share/inkscape/templates

On linux I would recommend copying /usr/share/inkscape/templates/default.svg to ~/.inkscape/templates/ dir, and edit copied template so your settings will not be lost when you upgrade inkscape.

... or you could set up Inkscape exactly how you want it to open, save as - with a unique file name and place a link to it on your desktop.

Thanks for the replies! I'll try setting the default file to landscape
