DXF import issue

Postby grant_gibson45 » Fri Sep 12, 2014 8:03 am

For some reason I can import circles from Inventor in DXF format but anything which involves straight lines seems to not work. Does anyone know what is going on ? It isn't an Autodesk/Inventor issue as it is definitely creating a DXF file. The reason I want to use DXF is because technical drawings are much easier in Inventor - well for me they are.

Regards

Grant

Can you upload or post a link to an example file?
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Same problem here, however, most of the time it works. In Inventor I usually just highlight a face in model mode and "Export Face As" a release 2000 dxf. When it doesn't work, I use the free DraftSight as a bridge. You can open the dxf in DraftSight and export as an svg file. That opens just fine in Inkscape. You will get a black background but just ungroup, delete the background, and then change the stroke color from white to black or whatever color. You may or may not have to scale your imported object to the correct size.
