hello i don't know if this is a bug
i'm on win 7 64bit, 4giga ram, geforce gts 250 1giga, Inkscape 0.91 release

wen stroking with the pen tool the preview stroke lag to preview take some seconds to respond so i don't see were the stroke is going
Note:
-happens only with the wacom tablet, wen stroking with the mouse this behavior don't happen the preview stroke response well
-this happen with the calligraphic pen brush and the freehand pen tool any help please.

I get this lag too! In the old 0.48 release I could sketch at real-time using the mouse, and I could see my line as fast as I drew. Now the sketch isn't rendered at all until I stop moving the mouse, so I'm drawing blind. I'm not using a tablet like you, but I'm getting this new sketch lag that I didn't get before. I get this same problem with the calligraphy pen as well.

I'm not familiar with these issues (that Lazur mentioned). But I wonder if the "preview stroke" you mentioned is red or green? If it's red, that the path outline, which can be disabled. (I find it incredibly annoying and disabled it the first day I found it!) If that's not it, I don't have any other ideas. So far, I'm not having this problem, on Win7, 64-bit, with 0.91, 64-bit.

Same problem here with the pen tool, not with the calligraphic, and with windows 8.1 and a wacom cintiq tablet but SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In my case, changing the entry preferences. My copy is in spanish so I fist write the path as it appears in my Inkscape and then try to translate:

Preferencias > Entrada/salida > Dispositivos de entrada > Herramienta de entrada basada en dispositivo de tableta (necesita reiniciar). Put this in ON.
Translation:
Preferences > Input/output > Input devices > Switch tool based on tablet device (requires restart) <-- Check it ON an restart the program.

I thought that could be because I still have de 0.48 version installed but I think that clearly is a bug. I hope that this option solve the problem for everybody with it.

One day after apparently resolve the problem, I'm not so sure right now. I've unmarked again the option "Switch tool based on tablet device" and the problem continues solved so perhaps it was another change I did yesterday. (I did a lot).

Anyway, some problem of performance seems to has the new version. I usually draw very fast and produce thousand of nodes (inking comics, for example with a LOT of lines). At the beginning the 091 version response fine, but soon starts to lag a little, while the 048 version continues working almost in real time and only with very heavy documents lags a bit. This happens with calligraphic and the pencil tools. Perhaps is a problem with the wacom hardware or drivers, I don't know. My machine has 16GB RAM and 2GB in the graphic card, so I don't think that the problem is the power of the hardware. (Win8.1 64bit, wacom cintiq 12W)
I've realized right now that the version of the 048 is 32 bits and the 091 is the 64 one, and this makes more weird for me the performance difference.

As both versions seem to live together fine in my computer I will continue using the 048 to draw.

It will be nice to ear other people impressions

I also suffered from big lagging on Windows 8 x64, Inkscape 0.91 x64 with Intel processor and nVidia graphic card.

Thanks you so much for this simple tip! This was really all I needed. Now I can draw "live" instead of have a 1-2 second delay and I never even use the ruler, so it's no problem in that sense!
