I want to setup a few different sized templates or workspaces and save them so I don't have to change the document properties every time. Is this possible to save several different workspace sizes?

Yes, you can do that. First set up a page exactly how you like it. Name it how you want (such as "template 1") with .svg file extension (such as "template 1.svg) and save in username/AppData/Roaming/Inkscape/templates. Actually that's where to save it for Windows 7. There are subtle differences in the proper path, for different operating systems. If you can't find the right place, please post your operating system, so someone can give you the proper path

I do have windows 7 but having a hard time finding where this path starts....Can you be more specific? Sorry just not seeing the user/appdata folder.

I have Win 7, and it's under a different path. Maybe you can try this:
Open your updated Inkscape template, then do a save as;
Click on these folders: click on your c: files, then Program Files(X86), then Inkscape, then Share, then Templates.

Edit - I just tried to upate my own templates, and I had some administrator issues, it wouldn't let me save there. So my work around was to open the control panel/computer menu, actually opened 2 copies and I did a drop and drag, it asked me to verify being an administrator, then it finally updated. yay, finally. you can do a drop and drag a couple of ways, but, at least the path above is the place you need to place your new templates, or update your old ones.

Has anyone ever moved the printer icon? can it be done on a template, I am SO tired of hitting the print button instead of the save button by mistake.

In Windows Explorer, it doesn't really say "username", it says your name....or the name of your user account on the computer. If it's only your computer, and you don't share it with anyone else, that's probably your name. Although maybe you gave it some other name, for some reason. If you share your computer, you might have separate user accounts -- one for you and one for the other person. Or you might both be using the same account.

It's better to save it there, because if you save in Program Files (X86) you'll alter Inkscape itself. And if you happen to name it default.svg, you'll actually overwrite Inkscape's default template. If you save it under the username directory, the template won't change Inkscape, but it will still be available for you to use.

So it's the folder with whatever name you used for your user account, then AppData/Roaming/Inkscape/templates. Note that it's an empty folder, if you haven't previously saved any custom templates.

Here's a screenshot of my Windows Explorer, with all the folders closed up. I've put a yellow rectangle over my name, because I don't want it to show. But that's where your name probably is.

PS -- No, I don't think you can customize your command bar in Inkscape. It's interesting how people can have such different problems. I've actually never hit Print by mistake, lol. If it helps any, I think that blue and white square (Save icon) is supposed to look like an old fashioned floppy disk; while the print icon is supposed to look like a piece of paper sticking out of a printer. It's probably just a habit though. Maybe you could switch to using Ctrl + S (which is the key shortcut for Save)?
