Import Layered Files with .91

Postby InBigTreble » Sat Feb 21, 2015 4:21 am

Is it possible to import a layered .ai file and have it retain its layers? I tried and failed, and I'm wondering if I'm missing something. This seems like kind of an oversight?

Can you post a link to the AI file please?

I don't think it's an oversight. I think it's just not possible. Although I could be wrong. I know I've seen other messages about this issue here. But I can't remember if there's a solution. Maybe you could search the forum, and find some info about it. Or maybe others will reply.

Good luck!

Oops, a simultaneous posting :D

I bought the .ai file, so I can't post a link. All the objects are there, but it is monstrously difficult to work with without the layering.

Hi.

As the layers in the SVG files is a Inkscape "speciality" the AI files will lack layers.
Normally the layers are "converted" to groups, to get the groups back to layers try the group_to_layer extension.
Good Luck!
