Hello,
Hope you can help with this one..
I've imported a .png image (a logo) into inkscape (purely for the purpose of converting it into an .svg file to use with Sothink Decompiler.
The .svg file opens and displays fine in Chrome, but doesn't open in IE. In Sothink, it opens fine, but only the top right hand corner of the image is visible .
I've tried saving a few different versions - now when I import the file into Sothink, I can see the shape of the image - but no image.
If I try and create a new image using inkscape, save as .svg and import that into Sothink, then that works fine (ie. is visible).
I'm thinking that I'm doing something wrong with the import - or that the SVG output needs to be tweaked to get it to work? Has anyone got an ideas on how to resolve.
I'm new to Inkscape - in case you haven't guessed already!
Thanks,
DB

Re: SVG file not displaying entire image
Maybe you can attach the svg or provide a link to the svg? That might help us help.
Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Re: SVG file not displaying entire image
Just three things you could check:
1. Make sure the image is *embedded*, not linked, when you import it (there's a pop-up when you import an image) - it might be that the other application somehow can't find it when it's only linked (usually only when you use a different computer to look at the file, though).
2. Make sure the image is *on the page* and not partially over the page borders (browsers will only show what's on the page, not what's beside it)
3. Make sure Sothink can actually display raster graphics (maybe it can't deal with them at all and only displays vector data?)

Re: SVG file not displaying entire image
I have had a few cases where I exported a PNG, and the whole image did not come through. I might get only the top inch of the drawing, or maybe the top 2/3. But when that happens, it's always from the top down. I've never had, for example, only a corner is exported. And when it happens, I just have to try the export again. Sometimes it fixes itself on the first re-try, and sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries, to get the whole image. It usually happens when the image is pretty large (1 or 2 mb).
I've never investigated it, so I can't refer to any bug reports.

Re: SVG file not displaying entire image
@brynn: sounds like it crashed / died while writing the png (I believe they are written top to bottom...). Maybe a problem with available RAM?...
