Changing current node position while draging bezier handles

Postby tuisu » Fri Jun 05, 2009 8:28 pm

Hey,

I was just wondering if there is a way I can move current node while creating a path? It's basically similar as changing the previous node position with arrow keys but I'd like to change the current one. People who are familiar with Illustrator.. when you're creating a path and draging bezier curve handles for the current node, you can hit space to lock the current handle position and move the node. I'm not sure if you get what I mean.. :)

Forum/google search didn't come up with any meaningful responses and manual only talked about moving the previous node created hence I'm asking here.

Any ideas? Can this be done somehow in Inkscape? I find this feature helps alot when creating paths.

I'll throw in couple of images to show what I mean..

So for example on this image I've created a path with two points and I'm trying to figure out the curve I want.

But while dragging the curve handles I decided I want the current node to be in a different place so with Illustrator you can hit space to lock the curve handles and move the current point/node

Hope this makes it more clear.

There's no way that I know of to do this at the moment, but that would be a nice feature. I'll hunt around on launchpad and add a feature request if it doesn't exist already.

Edit: Feature request submitted: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/383906

I thought there was no way of accomplishing equivalent action but I thought I'd still ask as I'm not really an everyday Inkscape user. Thanks for submitting the feature request. I was thinking about doing the same after getting some replies. I added a little clarification to the request about how it works in Illustrator.

You can't move the node with the mouse, but you can move the last node using the arrow keys (optionally hold shift, or alt+shift for different move distances).

Yeah, I know this can be done. I actually mention this in my original post. My question was that I'd like to move the current node not the last one created...

Ah, sorry for not reading your original post properly.
