I'm glad I found this forum. I hope that someone has had an experience similar to mine and has a solution. I use Inkscape to create dxf files of logos, pics, etc and then load them into Robo Master cutting software. Robo Master is the software that came with my cutter. I have kind of self taught myself how to use Inkscape and I feel that I'm not doing too badly. My problem is that when I convert to a path and then cut, many times the vector is way too complicated. It takes my cutter a long time to cut and the cutting head seems to be going crazy. It "vibrates" back and forth to cut instead of the fluid movement of motion when I cut text or a vector I have gotten elsewhere. It leaves my vinyl "chewed up" and is annoying. Is there a way to "dumb-down" the vector so that there aren't as many points on the line? Can someone steer me in the right direction or at least correct my terminology so that my google searches are more fruitful when I look for solutions on my own?
Thanks Tony

Re: Cutting on CraftRobo with DXF files
My understanding is that is pretty typical for what you are trying. Can you cut directly from Inkscape? There is a new forum for using Inkscape and cutting machines where you can get more help with this from people who use Inkscape/CraftRobo.

Re: Cutting on CraftRobo with DXF files
If you have an unncessarily complicated path you can Simplify it with Path -> Simplify (Ctrl + L on Windows).

Don't know if you can change your workflow, and perhaps use this viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4987 ?

so do you do that AFTER you convert to a path BEFORE save as a dxf file?

Re: Cutting on CraftRobo with DXF files
Yes, certainly AFTER you convert to path (simplify only works on paths).
It would be BEFORE you save it.

Re: Cutting on CraftRobo with DXF files
Were you able to import the dxf file into Robo Master? It looks like the answer you received was for Craft Robo and not Robo Master. I am having problems with importing into Robo Master.
Thanks,
Thanks,

I'm having the exact same trouble but with a different program. Inkscape and then cutting with Vulcan Plasma Cutter. Wondering if you've come up with a solution. This was 3 years ago, hopefully you're still around.
Thanks - Brian

FWIW, the Epilog laser cutters we use also don't play well with Inkscape... we output to PDF and send to the cutters from the PDF reader with very good results.
