Rectangle sizing

Postby stonechild » Sat Sep 25, 2010 12:18 pm

I'm trying to size a rectangle, but the size will not stay as I want it. This is using the width and height on the top ribbon, but the values I typechange. I've tried using the lock thing, but no go. The drawing only uses one layer so I doubt it's a layer problem. I've read the basic tutorials, looked through the user manual, and searched the forum and the web. I realize this is a simple thing and when I finally get an answer, it will probably seem obvious.

Thanks

Dennis

Sounds like it might be a rounding error bug

Maybe try using grid and snap to it?

Thanks for your reply, prkos.

I can't understand why this hasn't been fixed. I was planning to use my drawing to control laser cutting of parts and not being able to size things precisely makes Inkscape not very useful for my purposes.

Since Inkscape is used by Ponoko's users, I don't understand why more people haven't encountered this problem.

I would use TurboCad, but the learning curve is pretty steep. I think I will try to add the rectangle in TurboCad ( I can do that ;-)). The basis for my drawing is from a TurboCad drawing that someone sent me.

I haven't tried changing the XML yet. Maybe that will work.
