Snap to path intersections

Postby Huugin » Tue Jul 16, 2013 9:11 pm

Hi

I just started using inkscape...

I have this issue for which I think "Snap to path intersections", may be a good solution. The problem is however, I don't know how to use the feature (let alone know exactly what it does--its symbol and its name merely hints its potential use). I have tried several things, but the button remains greyed out. I then figured I would read about the feature in the help option, but the help option: redirects me to a manual I don't know how to search in (cannot find an option that allows me to search for words by typing into a search window), and gives me a link to a book I can buy at amazon.

So...

Is there a way to read the manual for implemented features?

Anybody fancy explaining to me how to use the "snap to path intersections".

I tried google too, but unfortunately only found posts were the posts assumed an initial knowledge about the feature, and thus I did not quite understand it.

Thanks for any replies.

Have a splendid day :-)

Hello there,

to search the manual for the snap function, use google to search--> snapping site:http://tavmjong.free.fr/

You can enable snapping to intersection points on the snap bar.
http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL_v15/html/Anatomy.html
You can do that only when snapping of the nodes and snapping to the paths are also enabled.
Just click on the right icons -in the right order: nodes, paths, intersections.

In the snap toolbar the possible snaps are divided into groups. Each group has a 'master button' at the top that has to be clicked before choosing any of the options in the group. In addition there is a 'supreme master' button at the top that enables or disables all snaps (shortcut %). It's a little like the Lord of the Rings now that I think about it. :D
Your mind is what you think it is.
