Function Plotter/Parametric Curves Error

Postby tfarkas » Fri Jan 17, 2014 12:25 am

Mac OSX 10.9.1, Inkscape v. 0.48

I'm attempting to use the Function Plotter or Parametric Curves functions (Extensions --> Render) to draw a Gaussian distribution, but I keep getting this message that suggests I need to download some extra stuff for Python. Here's the message:

Inkscape has received additional data from the script executed. The script did not return an error, but this may indicate the results will not be as expected.

The fantastic lxml wrapper for libxml2 is required by inkex.py and therefore this extension. Please download and install the latest version from http://cheeseshop.python.org/pypi/lxml/, or install it through your package manager by a command like: sudo apt-get install python-lxml

After receiving the message, no lines appear in my rectangle.

I have downloaded this "fantastic lxml wrapper" from the website they suggest, but not being super computer savvy, I'm not sure how to install it. Is this even necessary? Maybe I'm just doing something wrong with the Function Plotter and Parametric Curves windows?

Many thanks for any help here :)
