Import SVG files

Postby Luke Tanti » Wed Oct 14, 2009 11:50 pm

Hello. I am trying to make a single svg file from 2 svg's. I open on svg and then I import the other one. But when I import the second one it automaticly changes the colour like the other svg. How can I solve this and when I import a svg it will not change it's color but stay the same Thanks very much for any help!!

Hi Luke,
I'm not sure why no one has answered your message yet. For me, I'm not really sure of the answer, but I guess I'll have a go at it, and maybe someone else can chime in?

Are you importing it from File menu > Import (Ctrl + I)? Or are you doing a Cut or Copy or Paste? I've seen some people refer to Pasting as Importing, but I think they're different processes. If you're pasting it in, it may be taking on the attributes of the original image. When you select one of them, do both of them get selected? Or are they separate objects?

If you truly are Importing it from the File menu, then I'm afraid I don't know what the problem might be. I guess I've never used that feature :? But my reply here will bump your message back up to the top, so hopefully someone else will see it and know the answer.

Hang in there, we'll figure it out!

I think it might be because of conflicting IDs of the objects, I think this has been resolved in the dev version, and I think there's a similar thread already on the forum. Try to find it there may be suggested options how to deal with it in 0.46.

I did a lot of thinking on this one

I don't think there's an easy work around in 0.46. I think you have to do a find and replace on the gradient IDs (using a text editor or something). Note that I'm pretty sure this only happens with gradients because in 0.46, these are the only colour values a definition is created for. I can confirm that it's fixed in the upcoming version of 0.47.
