A campaign was started at IndieGoGo - a european "kickstarter" - to develop a professional PDF creation tool for Inkscape. The plugin's main features include: exporting projects in RGB or CMYK color space, using color profiles; adding custom bleed area, as well as crop & bleed marks; extensive control over quality and compression. The projects has been started by graphic designers.

I personally don't have a need for this, but as a moderator here, I know that it is one of, if not THE most frequently and sincerely desired new features. I could link to many existing topics, and in fact am glad that I now can direct future posters here. I suspect your project will receive a lot of support, and I'll be surprised if it doesn't

Meanwhile, I wonder if you're aware of this relatively new extension, announced in this topic: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5943? If you're not already acquainted, maybe there's a potential for some collaboration? Although I realize your project is considerably more ambitious

@brynn Well, Inkscape is now so powerfull that should have support for such things as printing industry. I do many projects - for printing or for web sites - and Inkscape is my numer ONE

I'll just repeat what I wrote privately to alienpriv few hours ago: $800 will not be enough and you need to get in touch with the team first.

We are already in contact with two programming companies, which are willing to write the plugin within that amount of money.
We have received first contributions, so I hope we can soon start working on the plugin.

The plugin is planned mainly for Linux, but we'll see about porting it to other systems.
