I did a search to no avail, and I'm not sure if this is even possible, but here is what I'm trying to do:

I want to put a line of text along a spiral path and have the text scale up the further along it spins from the center of the spiral.

I have succeeded at applying the text to the spiral, but it is the same font size the whole way through the spiral. Any ideas?

Have you tried selecting it letter by letter and changing the size with the Text tool? It can be a bit tedious but it works and you keep the text as text.

I actually haven't tried that. I thought about it, but I was sure that someone else somewhere had thought of it before and figured out a better way to do it. I'll give it a shot, thanks!
