Linear gradients

Postby Mallen » Sun Aug 18, 2013 4:35 am

I am a complete newbie to Inkscape and over the last 2 months have taught myself by completing many of the various online tutorials.

Using such a tutorial I have recently created 6 different coloured pencils,(each with a brass cap and eraser). The intention is to create several more and then stand then in a mug or tumbler.

However, whenever I move the finished pencil I lose all the gradients. Which return when moved back. How do I save everything including the gradients? I have tried everything that I can think of.

The same happens when I duplicate something. The original shape duplicates but the gradient doesn't. How can I do this too?

Many thanks.

Hi there!

There is an icon at the tool controls bar which when clicked will make gradients and fills follow the object's position,
next to the 5. on that image, far right:

Many thanks. Tried it and it worked!
Having done most of the online tutorials I can't recall ever being told this.
Even those dedicated to gradients fail to mention it.
