Fading Out An Object

Postby zella21 » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:58 am

Hi everyone..I've been having problem trying to fade out an object. Here is what I'm trying to do.

I created a simple grid from the render-grid function.

Now I want to fade out the grid on the right side so it literally fades out into the white/plain background. I was able to fade that portion out by using the "create
edit gradients tool" and it worked great.

But now I need to fade the grid on the other side..the left side..and that where Im having trouble. I tried using the gradient tool again for the left side but its not
working. Im probably using it wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.

Perhaps...

a) use reflected gradient / it would create the same "fade" on the other side
b) use radial gradient / originally it is in shape of circle but you should reshape it in to the elipse
c) were you able to add nodes to gradient? If so, add the node with 0 alpha or transparency - it should work.
:tool_zoom: <<< click! - but, those with a cheaper tickets should go this way >>> :!:

You could also use a mask.

I use Inkscape 0.48 on Ubuntu 12.04.
English is not my natural language so excuse my mistakes.
