Export PDF - Shadow

Postby Pollux » Fri Jan 08, 2016 9:33 am

Hi everybody,

My problem is quite simple: when I export (Save as...) my SVG draw (https://www.sendspace.com/file/v0i6d2) in PDF (https://www.sendspace.com/file/ln9ud6), all shadows disappear!

I tried few combinations of setting during PDF exportation but it doesn't change anything.

Can you help me please? It's the first that I encounter this problem.

Thanks a lot
Have a nice day

Check the option "Rasterize filter effects", if you want to export blur to pdf (blur is a filter like the others you can find in the Filters menu, only you can add it via the Fill&Stroke dialog). Some parts of your image will then be converted to raster images, and maybe clipped and masked, this takes a little while.

Also see this topic:

(not sure how many pdf 1.5 features found their way into Inkscape... and if it does support filters at all... But I know it only works when you check the rasterize option, so it's probably still just as relevant as it was in 2011)
Something doesn't work? - Keeping an eye on the status bar can save you a lot of time!

Hello

There is also the option to use a virtual pdf printer, like PDFcreator. I also remember that when you Install Foxit reader, it also appears a virtual printer that "prints" to PDF.
You can see these options in the Print option of the main menu. As I said, you have to install a third party printer.

I'm in Ubuntu, I tried the advice of "Rasterize filter effects", but my machine right now has low computational power. I say that because some cards of your design seemed to me they have a light shade, and others don't have any, when I export them to pdf (at 90 dpi).

Then I tried with the Print to file that appears in my Print dialog in Inkscape 0.91 for linux. But the results still aren't like your original drawing. I'm attaching that test as a dropbox link:

I didn't have the Calibri font neither.
If you have problems:
1.- Post a sample (or samples) of your file please.
