I have a basic shape which some of you may recognise as being the bottom part of a subbuteo figure.
On my Inkscape screen and when I export it as a bitmap (png) it looks like this:
But when I save it as a PDF it looks like this (Adobe Reader 9):
with the strange rather thick lines on the top ellipse. Any ideas why this is happening?
It's basically just 3 ellipses and a path like this:
The SVG is here:- https://www.box.com/s/tbbljwwi5gim0j2mm4w4
Any advice appreciated.

Saving as PDF - what's happening here?
Re: Saving as PDF - what's happening here?
Although it's hard to believe this is actually correct and Inkscape is 'wrong' according to the rules or standards of SVG as best my feeble intellect can grasp them. I'm sure more precise explanations will follow...
The ellipse was transformed and the SVG specifications say that the stroke should faithfully observe that transform instead of being uniform (as you might expect). To take care of it convert the object to a path, move it a bit and the stroke will become uniform; now you can move it back.
Note that although it's most apparent on one ellipse, all three ellipses exhibit this nonuniform stroke.

Your mind is what you think it is.
Re: Saving as PDF - what's happening here?
Thank you for helping me with this and thanks for taking the effort to reply in a manner which is relatively understandable to a newbie - special thanks for pointing out that there was a problem with all 3 ellipses.
I thought the resolution to the issue might have something to do with converting the ellipses to paths - but when I did this it seemed to make no difference to the pdf image.
So I did what you said - converted the ellipses to paths > then moved them a few pixels to the right > then moved them back into place.
Somewhat bizarrely this seems to have done the trick!! Although I reserve the right to re-open this discussion if in fact I am mistaken
thanks
