I have just started using Inkscape and have been unable to find an answer to the following problem.
I have created an object using a rectangle and saved it with a particular color. I want to use that object to create identical objects but with a different color.
I have tried clicking on the style indicator to select the object, then using the replace color extension.
This doesn't change the color.
What am I missing please?
How to change the color of an object
Re: How to change the color of an object
Do you mean that you want to create maybe a handful of identical objects? Or pageful? If it's just a few, then just use Duplicate. And while the object is still selected, just open the Fill and Stroke dialog, or use the palette along the bottom of the window, to change the colors.
If it's like a whole page, you might want to use the Tiled Clones dialog (Edit menu > Clones > Tiled Clones) to both create the clones and color them. See Help menu > Inkscape Manual, for instructions.

Thanks very much Brynn. I'm not sure why I couldn't get it to work before.
