Hi,
I'm wondering if it's possible to scale an object but specify another location for the centre point.
To explain what I mean:
Say I traced over a city map in inkscape to produce only the details I need. I delete the original map from the SVG file. Then I scale down the traced map.
I want to add in more detail that I forgot, so I re-import the original map. Now I need to scale it down to the same reduced size of my trace, however I don't know the reduction factor.
To make things easier, I want to use one of the corners of a building within the imported map, align this point with the smaller traced version, then use this point as the new 'centre' reference so that I can scale it easily down to the correct size and at the same time, the correct position.
Is this possible?
Thanks!
Scale an object using new 'centre' point
Re: Scale an object using new 'centre' point
Hi.
By holding Shift, you can use the handles on the bounding box to scale from the centre of the bounding box.
When you click twice, the selection switches to rotate/skew mode where you can also reposition the rotation centre, which is also the origin for the Shift+scaling.
