Disable pencil end points

Postby trpnblies7 » Fri Aug 08, 2008 12:10 pm

I like to use the pencil tool to "sketch" out a design first. However, I can't for the life of me figure out how to disable the end point boxes from showing up every time I draw a new line. This makes it difficult to sketch because I keep accidentally extending a previously drawn line with my tablet pen instead of drawing a new line. Is there a preference I'm missing somewhere that allows me to make it so pencil lines don't have the end point boxes appear when drawn? I feel as though I've tried every selection option, but nothing seems to work. Thank you.

Hi trpnblies,
I'm not sure if I can answer your question, because I've never used a tablet/pen. But with a mouse, once you deselect the line you've drawn, the box goes away. I assume it's the same with a tablet/pen.

Sorry I can't be better help. But I'm sure others will come along and give you the right answer. Good luck :D

The end point appear because after you create the line it's remains selected. It's standard behaviour and I don't think it's optional. I think the best you can do is hit Esc after your draw a path to deselect it before drawing a path near it.

micro, do you think it would help trpnblies to change the Grab sensitivity in Inkscape Prefs?

Yah, if you have Snap to nodes enabled that will definitely make the situation worse.
