I was recently editing a heavily layered image in Inkscape (almost 13-14 layers) and suddenly an object I created just became unselectable. I tried unlocking all layers and objects, but still the object was not selectable by rubberband tool or by clicking.

Is there any way to fix this problem? I want to make minor changes to the object, but unfortunately it remains unselectable and hence undeletable also.

Have you tried selecting by using the tab key? sometimes that works when other methods dont. also using the selection pointer and the alt key allows you to select just by touching the object with the selection trail. The rubber band method won't work unless the entire object is enclosed including all stray elements. Lastly try control clicking on the object in case it's in a group...

if you are using 047 try the nodetool and see if the outline lights up as you pass over it.

Will try the Tab method. EDIT: that also didn't work...

I tried all other methods, included selecting the entire picture but the object, while visible didn't get selected. I couldn't even see its selection handles so appears to be a bug...

If you could upload the SVG file, we could examine it for you, and maybe find the problem.

I fixed this problem.

I had inadverdantly "locked" the object in use when it appeared in the layers list at the bottom, thinking I was locking the layer. However, when I unlocked the layer and then chose to do "Unlock all objects" it works as expected.

Strangely when I tried unlocking objects earlier, it didn't work! I have no idea...

Sometimes, it's confusing when an object appears as an subitem to a layer in the layers list.
