Printing and Faded Colors

Postby Sharon175 » Wed Aug 31, 2011 9:44 pm

Am creating files on an iMac and printing to HP Photosmart 4700. Printed results are very faded. Have saved to PDF, attached to email so I can print on Brother laser printer at work (using PC w/Windows7). This has worked well for other applications. Printed results are still faded. Cannot find an application at work that will open the SVG files. Have searched forum here and found RGB/CMYK info that is way over my head and posted several years ago. Any current tips/tricks/info you can share with this very new and non-technical user.....

I think that is going to be very difficult to evaluate without a sample file. Can you post up a sample file?

Would be happy to post sample... have read and re-read instructions for posting files and am totally out of my element....

not sure myself, I think you have to have the file/image hosted some place like http://mydomainname/pictures/sample.svg
that's what I did, you might want to try and stick it up on flicker or something if you don;t have web space from your isp

Hhhhm....I'm not sure if sample images will be necessary. We have several members who are quite savvy about printing and colors in Inkscape/SVG. They may be able to solve the problem without samples. So I would suggest to just hang in there. The forum has been slower than usual lately, I'm guessing folks are just busy right now (school starting in northern hemisphere, if not members' schools, then their childrens'....and maybe it's a nice time of year for travel, if one is not involved with school....I don't really know). Anyway, someone should be along soon who can help you sort it out. And if sample images are needed, they'll let you know :D

Thanks for the feedback. Time is not critical right now. Will keep checking for options....

Just a small update... boss let me download Inkscape at work (which is good, cause I've been bringing images home to clean up with Inkscape and taking back to work to use). Printing directly to the Brother laser printer: will only let me print from the manual print tray and images are about 25% of original size and faded - need to figure out settings changes, I guess. Can print black and white to our laser engraver just fine (huge bonus here!). Okidata we use for heat transfer printing produces BEAUTIFUL results. Will keep at this.....
