I made this quick file for a hang tag. I am having trouble however getting the file to crop to the document size (I don't want the overhanging backgrounds).
Any workarounds to make this possible? I would like to completely eliminate everything OUTSIDE the document box.
thanks for any tips!

No work around necessary. You'll need to use the Inkscape feature called Clipping - http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL ... pping.html. Draw a rectangle the same exact size as the tag, and aligned exactly with the page border (document box), then do Path menu > Object to Path. That is your clipping path. Make sure it's on top of everything else (in z-order) (or at least on top of the things you want clipped). Select the objects to be clipped and the clipping path, then do Object menu > Clip > Set.

Re: check out this file. I can't crop to the document size.
The only problem is that it's Non-Destructive. So if I copy and paste this into a new document or try to tile a bunch of these things on one page, it doesn't come out very nice (the remnants of the stuff that was "cropped" take up space and I can't put one right next to the other in a tiled fashion). Is there a workaround for this issue?
thanks for the help thus far by the way.

You'd have to crop the image from a raster program -- I mean the circle R image, not the whole Inkscape image. A raster editor, or some other program that offers a true crop would work. The GIMP is a free raster editor that certainly can do the job. I think Paint.NET is also free. Then import the cropped image into Inkscape, and align it into the tag area.
