Begginer help needed.
I plan to use inkscape to create custom shapes to edit in photoshop.
The problem is that I would like to understand how inkscape works before starting to work on it.
One example can explain more then thousand words

what is the best way to create the first shape and keep enough freedom to change it in a second moment to became lake the second shape?
I mean, I can't create a simple rectangle and set border width....
I was thinking to something like: create a rectangle, decide a width, then somehow transform the original object as it became a double path (inner and outer), then edit the single point in this new double path.....
thank you

Re: vector objects concepts
So you want to take the black border, which in Inkscape is called the Stroke (inside rectangle is called Fill), and change it to look like the 2nd shape? If I understand, then I think you will want to use Stroke to Path. It will change the single rectangular path (with stroke).....well basically into a compound path consisting of 2 rectangular subpaths.
