Hi.
How do we correct a misspelled thread heading?
A few has cropped up lately.
Along the same lines; would it be possible to add "Inkscape terminology" words to the built in spell-checker? (where even the word - Inkscape - is "flagged")
Another wish; All Inkscape icons in the smilies list.

Re: Edit thread Heading - possible?
Ragnar - just curious, are you trying to edit your own titles or someone else's?
The idea to add Inkscape terminology to the spell checker is a great idea. (I've never even used the spell check, so I have to take responsibility for every typo and grammar error made, lol).
And, if I could add to your wish list, I'd like for us to agree to some sort of abbreviation to use instead of constantly spelling out 'Inkscape'. At least one friend of mine and I use 'Inky', it's short and can be typed with just one hand - all the letters are on the right side of the keyboard!

Hi dee
I would like to be able to edit my own only.
It's not nice to discover an error in the header after you have posted.
When it happened to me I deleted the post - before any replies - and made it over. Once there are replies it's too late.
Might be an idéa to let the moderator correct obvious spelling mistakes - like the omission of "s" in star etc.
You don't have to "use" the spellchecker - on my browser incorrectly spelled words are underlined in red as I type - if you have never noticed your spelling is excellent!
Abbreviations are great once they are "defined", a lot of writers (on the net in general)
assumes that everyone knows the meaning of an abbreviation. That's not the case.
As we have a lot of beginners coming here for help I would be careful using "expert language" understood by just a few.
Also bear in mind that a lot of users here does not have English as their mother tongue (or first language) - me included.
BR ( Best Regards )

Hi PT
Wow, I never thought of trying that!
Just out of curiosity, what are the two other forums? Are you willing to share?
On "my" other forums I am only a "passive" user!

It *should* be possible when you click the Edit button on your [original] post.

Re: Edit thread Heading - possible?
Yes, PT is right. Click Edit on the original message. The title field will show up where you can edit it. Try not to make major edits, though, because it could become confusing. Just simple spelling. Or if a posted topic leads to a different subject, once or twice I've added a whole word to a title, to make it more easily searchable. You can only change your own messages though.
I don't have access to change or add search terms. But I can say that I've been extremely frustrated with this forum's search. I posted a topic about it a few years ago, and it resulted in some changes. But it still needs more attention, imo.
Oh opps, you said spell checker. To be honest, I've never even noticed spell checker, lol! But it probably can be modified somehow. I don't have access to that either.
I've also asked for all the Inkscape icons to be in the smiley list. No luck there.
Edit
PS -- But microUgly mentioned to me a week or 2 ago, that forum upgrades are due. So hopefully he'll see this message pretty soon, and at least answer it

Re: Edit thread Heading - possible?
By the way Ragnar, I still don't see a spellchecker in the forum. Maybe it's a pref I've either overlooked or disallowed. Let me check my control panel.... Hhmmmmm
I surely don't see anything about a spellchecker. Could this be a feature that varies according to operating system?
You didn't mean Inkscape's spellchecker did you?

Re: Edit thread Heading - possible?
Hi brynn
My bad (again).
What I see is Firefox own internal spellchecker - Just figured that out!
Figured out how to add words to the dictionary as well!
Sorry for the confusion!
Example of Firefox "helping" me - ( To make me embarrass myself in public
)

Re: Edit thread Heading - possible?
Ah-ha! Well, no worries. For the record, I absolutely hate that spellchecker. It annoys me to no end. I have disabled that kind of spellchecker in every program that uses it (Firefox, OpenOffice Writer....possible Scribus too). I don't mind the kind that "read" the document after it's finished. But it drives me crazy to have it underlining everything while I type it
