Hi!

I'm very excited about version 0.92 of Inkscape and looking forward to experimenting with the new features.
I was trying out the seamless pattern template as I had often issues with creating patterns on older versions of Inkscape. I also teach my elementary school students Inkscape among other things and I had avoided using patterns for this reason.

So I haven't really figured out the new pattern template and I don't know if it was there in 0.91 and I just missed it but I feel like everything is more transparent than it should be. Even objects at 100% opacity appear transparent. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Is this here to aid the creating of the patterns? Is there any way to change it while working on the image?

Transparency can come from alot of things:
fills having a lower alpha value, masking is present, object has a lowered opacity put inside a group which has 100% opacity, a layer blending mode/filter used etc.
Without a look at your file we can hardly tell; the behave in general hasn't changed.

Screen blending mode could bring you closer to the effect although for creating an actual pattern fill I wouldn't recommend anything that "fancy" because who knows how it will be rendered outside inkscape.

thank you for your reply. I found that the layers were set to 30% opacity. I ended up creating my own layer inside one of the layer groups and that solved some of the problems.
The fast preview for the seamless pattern template wasnt seamless but the object ->pattern method seems to be so far

As far as I can tell, to make that seamless pattern template work, you have to edit that gold "Draw Freely" pattern, without changing anything about that gold background square, except the color. It must be something about how he has the pattern drawing aligned to the page border, that makes it work.

Object to Pattern probably still creates those gaps, and if you zoom, you'll probably see them. I posted in your other topic with a link to the best solution I've seen so far.
