However when I convert from a SVG to a PNG my text moves and sometimes the font changes. Can someone please provide help with how to stop this and what I did wrong. Please remember I am new to Inkscape so I need fairly simple instructions.

To get the PNG from your SVG drawing use Export Bitmap option. I don't know what might be affecting the font when exporting, can you tell us step by step how you make the PNG?
