need help other topics on this subject does NOT fix problem

Postby LadyMav » Thu Mar 20, 2014 8:38 am

Like a few others I have used the pen tool to draw my images. Now I am stuck when it comes to filling the image. I get ugly annoying white space when I try to fill the selected areas.

Yes I have seen the fallowing posts
viewtopic.php" onclick="readonly();return false;"postlink-local" href="http://www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php" onclick="readonly();return false;">viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2972&p=14801&hilit=annoying+white+space+when+using+the+fill+tool#p14801
none of the answers given work for me.

Some of my objects which I have drawn are one piece however the fill and stork option does not work because only part of the object will become filled and the other part which needs to be a different color will not fill.
So common answer #1 fill and stork is NOT the correct answer.

It will be 100% pointless to redraw the objects with the pen tool like a few answers have given because the whole image is drawn with pen not to mention I have spent 3-4 days drawing and fixing all the details to look the way I want them to look. and if I was to draw the whole thing using only one pen tool with a lot of nods I would go nuts since I have millions of nods and that's on separate parts. Not to mention how long it would take to do such a pointless task.

I have even charged the threshold, grow/shrink by, and close gaps options and tried to fill the same spot multiple times and even when I reset and retry different options nothing fixes my problem.

So what can I try next to get rid of these ugly white spaces and make a nice clean fill? I have been working on this project for a week now and I am stuck on what should be the easiest part *the coloring and adding techniques and textures* but it is actually the hardest one of all.

You have perhaps seen: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL ... elity.html

If possible, please upload your svg.
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/
