JPEG/PNG Import - Pictures are all pale, even in the preview

Postby avr4you » Wed Aug 01, 2012 6:00 pm

Hi,

first post and a problem :) I'm using Inksape to vectorize JPEG and PNG Pictures for use in Blender.
The last weeks all went well. But today i recognized that all pictures are very pale and brightly when i import them.
Even the preview. I am using Sabayon Linux and on my other PC with the same OS all things are Ok.
I have deleted the .config directory and reinstall inkscape but still no luck.

For a better understanding of my problem i will attach a screenshot.
The JEPG shows a Big green Egg with a really green color ;)
But this is to pale. Gimp shows right.

Based on other user reports, this seems to be an issue limited to 64bit Sabayon Linux (and only on this distro):(likely more a problem with Sabayon than actually with Inkscape, since no other distro nor platform is equally affected, using similar versions of the required and recommended dependencies).

Thank you very much. You are right.

I found in the Bug Report a Workaround:

Under "Bitmaps" in "Inkscape Preferences" change oversampling to "none" (default was 2x2). An interesting effect is the higher the oversampling is set, the more transparent the bitmap images become.

Thanks again,

Marcus
