Unable to launch from Mac Snow Leopard

I go to launch Inkscape form Snow Leopard and all I get is the icon in the toolbar and X11 starts but then disappears. Anyone have any experience with this?

Does X11 launch when you start it by itself ('Applications > Utilities > X11')?
