My first Inkscape drawing.

Postby styxlawyer » Wed Aug 19, 2015 6:09 am

I needed to reproduce the logo on layer 1 of the attached zip file and have done the best I can.

Does anyone have any hints on how I could improve this.

Thanks.

Looks good.
Two things I thought of:
1) stroke of ellipse a bit thinner
2) the meridian lines in the original have also a gradient (full white in the middle, which becomes slightly transparent further off). Select all your meridians (hor and vertical), ungroup them (Ctrl+Shift+G, several times if necessary), combine them (Path -> Combine), then apply a radial gradient to the stroke (white non-transparent in the middle towards white partly transparent on the side).
Also maybe the meridians a bit thicker?

Thanks for looking. I'll thin down the ellipse a bit and put all the meridian lines on one layer with a gradient.

Still...

Don't get me wrong, but that "logo" should be thrown away, doesn't worth wasting your time on it.

Hi Lazur,

Thanks, that looks much better. I agree that the logo isn't very good, but it needed tidying up as we only had it in a small jpg file. Time to start working on a new one.
