Help with using the Tiled Clones function

Postby hellocatfood » Wed Sep 02, 2009 7:51 pm

I've been using Inkscape to create some pixel artwork using the Tiled Clone function (Edit > Clone > Create Tiled Clone) and the output is great apart from one thing. When I zoom in to the image or export it to a png and zoom I get white space between each of the squares:

I checked the SVG and each of the squares is exactly 1 pixel apart, so I can't understand why I'm getting the blurring/white lines. Is there a way to save it to bmp, tiff or another lossless file type?

Could this be Bug #165780 in Inkscape: “Pattern Gaps” or one of its duplicates?
I haven't read through them all, but I think they describe a similar rendering error...

Is there a way to save it to bmp, tiff or another lossless file type?
not that I know of ... what dpi did you use in the export dialog? Inkscape internal value is always 90dpi.

Try adjusting the sizes to px grid as a workaround http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... liasing.3F

Strange - in my test I see the white lines on Inkscapes canvas, but not when zooming the exported png (at 90 dpi).

initial tile: rectangle with no stroke, fill unset, h = w = 1px

oops - forget my attachment - I misread your description - your gap is 1 px not the tile size.
How do you set the gap in % to precise 1px? No rounding errors (inkscape has them all over)?

[edit content="secont test"]

initial tile: rectangle with no stroke, fill unset, h = w 10px, gap 10%

(I resized the page to fit selection - so the values in the SVG (XML Editor) seem not aligned with the pixel grid. But the exported PNG looks fine in GIMP at 800% and in 'Preview.app' (OS X).
