Hello all,
I am super new to Inkscape, like 48 hours new, with no experience with anything similar other that Paint, so I hope my question isn't too dumb.
I am having an impossible time with moving one of two objects/images on top of the other.
Here is what I am trying to accomplish;
I first created a text object that consisted of two letters and separated them and made each its own object. For this i used
object to path (maybe it was stroke to path) and then ungrouped them. I then moved them how I wanted. I then grouped them together.
I then added a piece of clip art, selected it and traced bitmat. (Vectored/vectorized it?)
I now want to put the imagine with and slightly on top of the grouped text object. But regardless of what i do, the vector imagine will not go to the top. I have tried raising and lowering both the text object and imagine and the results are always the text object stays on top. Everything is on one layer ( i have not messed with layers at all). And the two objects are not grouped together nor are they combined. I can move both independently of each other.
Last but not least, I can create a random object and it WILL react appropriately with the raise and lower commands with the text object AND the Vectored Imagine. But the two I want to react with each other will not!
I am so very very confused, If anyone can help a brother out or at least point me in the direction i need to figure this out, i would really really appreciate it. Thanks in advance,

Can you append the SVG file, please?

You probably have an element in a group where it doesn't belong. Check the status bar info area.
And, as requested, please share the svg file, as an attachment here or linked via dropbox or google drive, etc.

Re: raise section to top not working for newly vectored image
OK so i figured it out. you guys are really going to face palm when you hear this. I was working with black and white strokes with no fill and that actually was my problem. i though for some reason that the white area was actually white instead of being empty/nothing. So the raise/lower section was working fine, i just couldn't tell until i gave one of the objects a different color.... I know, right? Duh. The solution literally came to me in my sleep the night i made this post.
So thank you guys for responding and offering your help, i do appreciate it. Next time i will also link the file in my initial post.
Thanks again,
K

Yes, Inkscape can confuse with its various modes of 'transparent'. You're not the first
