I'm trying to use a stencil set for Zurb Foundation in Inkscape (http://zurb.com/playground/foundation4-stencil-sets.
The stencil is available in Omnigraffle and Vector PDF. Naturally I imported the PDF - it opened in Inkscape.
But the file is barely usable. All the elements are on one layer and parts of elements (backgrounds fonts and borders) are hard to
group easily and copy/move about. ie. Not much about this file is practically usable.
Is there a way to import nice vector PDF stencils and get them to play nice?
Importing PDF Stencils (Zurb Foundation)
Re: Importing PDF Stencils (Zurb Foundation)
Hello:
I opened a pdf from the website in LibreOffice, and the text font was there. An it was easy to select and edit any object. Then from LibreOffice exported to SVG! ... and the font was lost again, and all the objects ended in groups!... But at Least the kerning of the text were converted so it can be edited in Inkscape. I said this because when opening the pdf directly in Inkscape, there are problems editing the text elements.
However, I think there are still options:
- Use LibreOffice Draw or OpenOffice, to edit your graphic objects, and when required export parts to SVG and open in Inkscape.
- Just use the tools for grouping and layering the objects, that Inkscape provides:
- Download the still-not-even-alpha/ development version / ver 0.49 of Inkscape from: http://inkscape.org/en/download/. It has better selection tools.
- There is an extension for deep ungrouping, but I don't remember where to download it. You have to search it, download it, and install it.

- Use the Find Command (ctrl + F) of the ver 0.48 and group what you need in Layers.
