How to pick up a style from a drawn line?

Postby Cris » Wed Sep 08, 2010 3:10 am

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before..

Let's say I'm using the calligraphic tool :tool_calligraphic: and I have five different line thicknesses and colors in my drawing. Is there an easy way to draw in style A and then pick the style B from a line I drew earlier? It would be a command like "from now on, draw with this thickness and color, taken from this example line".

The closest I could find in the manual is this

http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Shapes.html#CurrentStyle

But I'd rather not open a dialog and press a button each time I want to switch from "thin black line" to "thick grey line". Ideally it would be, draw, click on line having desired style, click command to pick style up, draw.

This is a very simple thing and I'm sure has an easy solution but I can't seem to find it. (I also don't want to "paste the style" to an already drawn line, I want to switch line style first, then draw)

Thanks in advance & Regards
Cris

once you have things the way you want them you can save it as a preset in the drop down menu on the left. - deleting presets is not a gui thing though you have to edit your prefs file in a text editor.
Your mind is what you think it is.
