Path effect, power stroke, start/end cap, set default.

Hi People,

For path effect/power stroke the default value for start/end cap is: Butt.
I would like it to be: Zero width.

Couldnt find it in preferences (shift-ctrl-p) or the file preferences.xml (user preferences).
Is it somewhere to be found in ../inkscape/share/[folders]/[file] ?
Or is it "hard" compiled ?

Kind Greetings,

M

Ha, we had just asked the developer to change that, because we (Tim, who is an artist, and I) thought it was a silly preset, too :)
It will be different in the next major Inkscape version.

It's a hard, compiled-in setting, yes.
You will be able to change the presets in that version, too.

Ah, ok, thanks for the info Moini.
We-ll just have to wait for the next release.

Just had an idea: you could use the 'triangle in' setting when drawing the path, which does have zero width caps per default. Only you'd need to pull on the pink diamond on the canvas, to convert the triangle into something with two spiky ends and a wider middle region.

Great, thank you !
I-ve already seen that option... and forgot about it.
There is still a lot to learn/remember...
