Hi, I'm new to inkscape and having an issue with the way something I drew is filling.
I drew this in solidworks, saved it as an AI file and them imported it to inkscape. When I try to use the fill on it I get a weird pattern happening and not at all what I am looking for. Could someone help me?
The SVG is attached. Thanks

Re: Weird Fill Effect
The issue is that your path is not closed. It has some nodes that are not connected to each other. You can fix this by selecting all nodes, then joining the open ends:

(select all nodes by either hitting Ctrl+A when object is selected with node tool, or by dragging a selection box around it.)

Something doesn't work? - Keeping an eye on the status bar can save you a lot of time!

Re: Weird Fill Effect
I'd probably simplify before joining.
Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/
