I'm in the process of moving from Illustrator 10 to Inkscape, because AI10 doesn't work (for me, at least) on Windows 7, and because I like Inkscape better... but... I have a lot of files that were created with AI that need to be imported. For the most part importing seems to work well, but I have a lot of files with a lot of text. When Inkscape imports a file from AI, it breaks the text up into many individual blocks, making it time consuming to select and mass edit text on the page. All that to ask:
Is there a way to combine text boxes as text? I can select a few text boxes and Ctrl-K to combine, but that will turn the text into shapes. I need to keep the text editable. I would do it manually with copy and paste, but I have a lot of files to convert.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!
