Hi all,

I recently downloaded the newer version of inkscape after reformat, and I'm having an issue - nothing seems to do anything! I can't make shapes or lines. Even if i open other inkscape documents, they will show up, but i cannot edit them at all. Anyone know what the problem is? I feel like it must be something simple but i don't know what!

Can you tell us your OS?

Sure, I'm using XP.

I feel like there must be a setting somewhere keeping me from actually doing anything but who knows. I haven't messed with any settings at this point, so it should all be default.

Sure - i'm using Windows XP.

It's confusing the mess out of me, because nothing does anything at all. I haven't used inkscape in a bit, but I could have sworn it wasn't that long ago that it worked (maybe a couple of months ago). But yesterday I tried and it was doing this. I was using 4.6 at the time so I updated to 4.7 and it still did the same thing.

To explain further: let's say I click on and try to make a shape. It will let me click on that button just fine, but when I try to drag to make a shape, it just acts like I'm not even clicking at all. I've tried with my wacom as well, but it does the same thing. Very confused - feel like there must be some simple setting I'm missing but can't figure it out! :-/

Are you drawing on a locked layer?

When you create a rectangle do you see the bounding box (dashed line)? Is opacity of the object 0?

I realized what the problem was!

I looked around in the forums but nothing came up that seemed useful - so I used google, and it came up from these forums!

The problem was that I have a Wacom that was plugged in. Unplugged it, and things worked fine.
