[solved] duplicate an object multiple times and distribute

Postby tlaloc » Thu Jun 21, 2007 6:45 pm

Hello,
I was wondering if there is a way to draw a figure and use a tool to duplicate it and fill the outside perimeter of an arc or circle with the duplicates?

to illustrate my point lets say I want to draw a simple flower and thus I make the circle and the petal design of my choice how do I make the petals and distribute them around the circle without having to manually create and rotate each individual petal?

What I want to do is similar to the Radial option on programs like Autocad etc.

Yes there is. The feature is called Tiling. You can read about it here - http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Tiles.html

It's fairly flexible so you might have to play a bit with the variables to get the exact effect your are after.
