Rotating text on a circular path

Postby stryker » Tue Mar 30, 2010 7:28 am

Hi

I needed to create a design where text wrapped around a circular path (like a coin). When you choose text to path the characters are aligned with their bases toward the circle's centre which was opposite to my desired look. Rotating the characters resulted in strange spacing since the rotation origin was a corner of each letter rather than the centre. So I flipped the text horizontally to get the letters in the reversed order, converted the text to a path, split out the letters that looked backwards and rotated those paths individually.

It got the job done, but I am wondering if a more experienced user could point me to a smarter/simpler way to achieve this for future reference?

TIA

Cut the circle and only use a part of it as the path to put text on. You may need to Reverse the path (Under Path menu) to get the correct text direction.
