Issues with fonts

Postby ben72 » Thu Sep 06, 2012 5:22 am

Hi,

I'm having trouble when using the font Claredon.

It looks ok in Inkscape but when I view the exported pdf the font is not correct when I zoom in. See what I mean here:
http://lotuseco.se/skylt2.pdf
For instance the letter 'a' has a hole in it and there are some lines around the characters.

Also if I view the svg file in firefox it's the same issue plus the text is too large:

What can I do to fix it? I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 and Inkscape 0.48. I have to send the file to somebody who will make a big sign of it with enamel so it has to be right. They're using Adobe and I'm not sure what it looks like for them.

Thanks for any help!

Well to fix your immediate problem, to send it to get printed, I recommend converting your text to paths (path menu, object to path). Then if there are any problems you will see them immediately in Inkscape and ty to correct them. There just may be problems with the way the font was made, i don't know this font but sometimes the self-intersections (overlaps) in a font can become problematic ...
Your mind is what you think it is.

Thanks for your help, it worked just fine after converting the text to paths! Also the text does not display too large when viewing the svg-image outside Inkscape anymore. :D
