I'm using the windows build 0.47 (portable), and am having an issue getting decent printing results. I've narrowed down the problem, and it seems like it is something that SHOULD have a setting, but I can't seem to find it. Wanted to ask here before I submit a bug on it.
I have a full-page vector drawing (it's a site plan), with some objects overlayed on it (simple shapes with numbers, triangles, squares, etc). I have a drop shadow filter on the shapes. Upon printing, I understand that the filter has to be rasterized before being sent to the print driver. Print -> Rendering has two options - vector, or bitmap. I am using vector, and all non-filtered objects do appear to be sent to the driver in vector form (text and all non-filtered lines are perfect). The filtered shapes, however, are sent in raster form (as they should be), but there seems to be no way to adjust the rasterization resolution. I can choose bitmap printing, and set it to 300 or 600 dpi, and get really good quality, but the print takes forever as it is rasterizing the entire page. Is there a setting for the selective rasterization that is done in vector mode, and if so, where is it at?
Printing Rasterization
Re: Printing Rasterization
Any reasons you do not upgrade to the latest stable version (currently 0.48.2)?CraziFuzzy wrote:I'm using the windows build 0.47 (portable)
(Inkscape 0.47 is outdated - there has been a newer major version released (0.48) since, with two additional bug fix releases, and a third one under-way).
There is no such setting (for selective rasterization) when printing directly from Inkscape (not in stable Inkscape 0.48.x, nor in current trunk) . If you need to have more fine-grained settings with regard to the resolution for the rasterization of filtered objects, save a copy of the SVG file as PDF, and print the PDF using your PDF viewer of choice.CraziFuzzy wrote:Is there a setting for the selective rasterization that is done in vector mode, and if so, where is it at?
