in awe of you guys..

Postby templar0820 » Wed Oct 07, 2009 10:12 pm

Hey everyone,

I am a web developer (XHTML/CSS/Jscript/Php). Never had to use a drawing program before and just downloaded InkScape and went through the tutorials in the Help menu. Lately, I have gone into the direction of making my own websites without any help from graphic artists so I got into InkScape. Really, the only thing I lack is graphic art abilities. I was going through this forum and saw the real capabilities of IS and it just blew me away. I guess I won't be needing to buy Illustrator  .

Anyway, I'll never be as good as you guys since I have no art background, but is there a place where I can find the most common web tasks accomplished by InkScape (gradients saved as a specific size/transparency/simple cartoon drawing/rounded tops and bottoms of rectangles in specific pixel size)? The info seems to be so scattered I have become confused. So does anyone know of a resource where these web tasks are all organized into one place?

Thanks in advance,
Templar

PS: Are most of you guys who do the crazy advanced stuff art majors or students of art? Or, am I just an incompetent buffoon?

I suspect some must be formally educated, but many others are just passionate.
