I'm new to Inkscape and new to (vector) imaging software so pardon me if this is a really stupid question.
let me outline the scenario. I need to edit a bunch of world maps, where I need to overlay symbols to different countries based on criteria. The bad news is that I need to do this for around 10 maps, each with 50 (different) countries or so. Ideally I want to avoid doing the manual labor. The good news is that I have maps software that allows me to color different countries based on excel data and it also creates a vector image (too large to attach, but link provided below). Hence, I can select all countries that need a certain symbol based on color relatively simple (I have figured out this step), but now I need to change the color (that I can do) and put a symbol in the centre of the country (e.g. +, -, *, etc.) and this is where I'm stuck. I have the feeling this should be pretty straightforward to do, but I just don't know how. (maybe with snapping, or mask, or some other tool?).
I hope that explanation made sense. Any help much appreciated!
