embeded image alignment problem and odd shading..

Postby Nova5 » Sun Nov 11, 2012 8:44 am

This is what its intended to look like, and is what shows on screen.

Here is what I get when I print it.

If I remove the gray background the blue shading vanishes but the misalignment remains.
Where does the bluish shading come from that is around the circular ring and the pie wedge? Why does the image become misaligned? Would my printer somehow be the culprit in this?

I suspect the lines cutting through it are the fault of the printer. scanner assembly may be a little dirty after all these years.

I installed CutePDF and printed it from Inkscape to the CPDF print driver.. it created a good looking PDF version when viewed on the PC screen. Now as for when printed.. the image was properly aligned, and the larger shaded box from around the circle vanished, but the one from the pie wedge remained.

The only problem was a slight distortion on two spots on the outer yellow ring/stroke.

Export to Bitmap doesn't have the misalignment, or odd shade problems. Its a little softer though due to BMP conversion.

Fixed the softness by changing DPI to 300 from 92.

This should be workable as I'll just have WIM print 4 copies to a page. Still curious as to why I have the issues with a printout from Inkscape directly. No search terms seem to bring up anything useful to lead me to a fix.

That is definitely strange, and I'm not sure what could be the problem with printing either, which is why I haven't replied. We would probably need the SVG file to investigate. It sounds like you've got something else working, but feel free to attach or link to the SVG, if you like.
