Hi everyone, I am new to the forum, I thought I would ask you guys if you could help me out with inkscape.
Ok so I am creating figures using inkscape, and I need to add text to the figures, which is fine, my figures look exactly how I want them when I use inkscape. However, when I save them as .ps files, the text suddenly becomes dark black, as if it were bold. It does not look bold in inkscape, it looks like I want it to look. Plus it only happens for some of my figures. its as if the resolution of the .ps files is worse also, I have tried changing the dpi from 90 to 120 but its still the same result, bold looking text, and figures that have poor resolution.
So anyone got any ideas as to why this happens and how to fix it ?

Are you using normal text object - just click and type or flowed text - drag and type inside? Look at the statusbar to see which types they are, but also the flowed text will have a resizable box around it. Are you using any transparency in your drawing?
just hand over the chocolate and nobody gets hurt

I am using normal text, and I do use some transparency, but can't see how this would affect the text, making it darker in a .pd file.
I should point out that the figures look fins in inkscape and also when I save them as .svg files they look fine. Its just .ps files that they look different.

Note that the PostScript file format does not support transparency at all. Any objects in Inkscape with transparency (or reduced opacity) will be rasterized when saving as PS/EPS.gudwin wrote:I am using normal text, and I do use some transparency, but can't see how this would affect the text, making it darker in a .pd file.

Do not use any transparency for objects in Inkscape if you want to export as vector to PostScript (with PostScript Language Level 3, you can use gradients, but have to make sure that none of the color stops uses transparency).gudwin wrote:So anyone got any ideas as to why this happens and how to fix it ?
Re: text looks wrong after saving my Figures as .ps files
Thanks for all the replies, I have been checking what my .dvi document (with these figures in) looks like when converted to .pdf via dvipdfmx and it looks fine when converted to .pdf. Though as I said did not look fine in the .dvi document.
Anyway again thanks for your help everyone.
Cheers
